Laura Moser vs. Lizzie Pannill Fletcher: Texas Democratic U.S. House District 7 runoff results

The seven-way Democratic primary in the Houston-based 7th Congressional District turned into one of the state’s nastiest after the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee dumped opposition research on Laura Moser online in hopes of keeping her out of the runoff.

But Moser made the runoff anyway, coming in second behind Lizzie Pannill Fletcher. The runoff drew a national spotlight, raising questions about Democratic strategy in races around the country. Moser promised to excite the liberal base and bring new voters into the fold, while Fletcher aimed to appeal to Republicans and moderates who are disgusted with President Donald Trump and current GOP leadership, an approach some Democrats have argued is crucial to unseating the incumbent, U.S. Rep. John Culberson.

In the end, Fletcher won the runoff and it wasn’t even close.
